For the dates of 10/28/10 to 10/30/10. I will be arriving on a late flight into FLL and am looking for a budget, but safe, hotel, preferably with a shuttle service. Hotwire lists this as a 2* Hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach, with amenitiy icons showing: walking distance to beach, airport shuttle, complimentary breakfast, pool, restaurant, business center and laundry facilities. Hotwire is still gathering reviews for this property, so this is a new one for the "list." I'm a bit hesitant about a 2* as I am traveling alone, have not been to Fort Lauderdale before, and have been reading "horror" stories about many of the 2* Hotwire/Priceline selected hotels..... However, there are many 2*'s that are just great and a wonderful bargan. Thank you!

Neither of the properties above have been reported to the board. I don't have a guess for the Airport hotel, but my guess for the Beach property is the Ft. Lauderdale Beach Resort Hotel and Suites with a secondary guess of the Fort Lauderdale Beach Palace Hotel and Suites.

While some 2* hotels may meet your needs, others may not, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you can't choose which type you will get, which is why it's usually recommended to stick with the higher rated hotels. As well, while the higher rated hotels may cost more, they often represent better value, as their 'regular' rates are usually higher, and there is more margin to discount a $100+ hotel than there is a hotel which typically retails for $50-60.

Also, keep in mind that the Shuttle icon indicates that a shuttle is available, but there could be an additional fee for it. When indicated in the airport zone it's usually complimentary, but the Beach zone is far enough away that this i'd say there is a decent chance that the shuttle icon showing for this 2* isn't necessarily indicative of a complimentary offering for this property.
