EgyptianPrincess Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 With PRICELINE, if i'm searching for a hotel, let's say a 3.5 star. under their search 4 of these hotels appear for west hollywood. So is it correct to assume then if I were to name my own price, and put in the parameters of West Hollywood and 3.5 stars, the hotels that PRICELINE would apply my bid to are those 4 hotels that appeared in my original search? or does that change for some reason? Thanks!!
thereuare Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The "retail" version and "bidding" version of PRICELINE each use a different universe of hotels, so the hotels you reference above are not necessarily the ones which you will when bidding naming your own price. (as well, the zone names and boundaries are often different too) See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ for more info.If you'd like help with a bidding strategy for this stay let us know your dates of travel, maximum bid, zone(s) you're willing to accept, etc and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. EgyptianPrincess Posted October 4, 2010 Author Report Posted October 4, 2010 Thanks for the reply!Ideally I'm looking for something in west hollywood, near sunset. I like the location of the Ramada or the Best western in west hollywood. those are 2.5 star, and my bid threshold would be less than $80 for those properties. They are 2.5 star.thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Ideally I'm looking for something in west hollywood, near sunset. Are you able to accept a hotel anywhere within the Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone.I like the location of the Ramada or the Best western in west hollywood. Are you able to accept any hotel in the zone that is 2.5* rated or higher? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. EgyptianPrincess Posted October 11, 2010 Author Report Posted October 11, 2010 for that price I think i would.but again I would prefer west hollywood proper if I could somehow narrow it down...
thereuare Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 It will come down to whether or not you're willing to pay a little more to try to target the West Hollywood zone...With PRICELINE you have to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone. With HOTWIRE you may be able to take an educated guess as to what property is being offered based upon the amenities shown before your purchase, and therefore take an educated guess if the property is within your desired part of the zone. The trade-off is that that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE.If you search HOTWIRE for your dates, does anything appear in this zone within your desired star rating and budget? What are the date(s) of your stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. EgyptianPrincess Posted October 11, 2010 Author Report Posted October 11, 2010 on HOTWIRE there is a 2 star hotel with a pool for 63 a night in the "hollywood area".everything else is above 130 for 2.5 star and up to 4. my travel dates are nov 9th to 15th.
thereuare Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 So what is your gameplan... are you considering this 2* property or are you looking for a higher rated property in the Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. EgyptianPrincess Posted October 12, 2010 Author Report Posted October 12, 2010 based ona previous poster's experience of getting the Super 8 when biding on a 2 star, i'm a little concerned about taking it, unless you have some hints as to what it could be?but i think I would rather take my chances bidding on a 2.5 or a 3 star property on PRICELINE. How do you recommend going this route?
thereuare Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I like the location of the Ramada... less than $80The Hollywood Hotel - The Hotel Of Hollywood (i'm assuming this is the Ramada you were referring to at 1160 North Vermont Avenue) is available on HOTWIRE (thru Hotels.com) for $63/nite... appears to be a hotel you like and within your budget, do you want to go with this? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. EgyptianPrincess Posted October 13, 2010 Author Report Posted October 13, 2010 no no, the ramada I wanted was the one on Sunset, the Ramada West Hollywood. it's definitely not the hollywood one.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 So what is your next step... trying for a 2.5* or 3* in the (Beverly Hills - West Hollywood) zone with an $80 maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
