jbrggr Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 I'm seeking advice on bidding for a hotel room in NYC via Priceline for 10/8/10 to 10/10/10. For whatever reason this weekend seems to be high in price from reading some of the posts but have not actually tried to bid myself yet. I'm looking at a 3* to 4* hotel in these areas in order of preference: TS, MTW, MTE, CPS. Can anyone give me advice on what the realistic winning bids are right now as well as what price and area I should begin bidding at. Thank you in advance.
AaronJB Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired max budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jbrggr Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Posted October 1, 2010 My thought of a max was in the neighborhood of $225...
thereuare Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 I'm looking at a 3* to 4* hotel in these areas in order of preference: TS, MTW, MTE, CPS.Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* vs. a 3* OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better in any of the zones above? Also, are you willing to pay more to stay in your first preferred zone vs. your second preferred zone, etc, etc OR are you looking for ht least expensive hotel in any of these zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jbrggr Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 I would like to have at least a 3* in one of these areas. I would prefer to be in TS even if it is a 3*. my max bid is $250. Thanks again.
thereuare Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I would like to have at least a 3* in one of these areas. So i'm assuming you want the least expensive 3* or better. (the previous question was more so if you were willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel, as in the example: a 4* is $225 but a 3.5* is $200... you would want the lower rated and lower priced hotel even though the 4* is within your budget as well) I would prefer to be in TS even if it is a 3*. my max bid is $250.So you want to bid up to your maximum first in Times Square before adding the other zones? (again, using an example: Times Square hotel is $250 and a MTE hotel is $175... you prefer the higher priced hotel in Times Square)Please confirm the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
