MarySB Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 I just won a priceline bid for a hotel in NYC for 11-28 (you already posted it on the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins), but I am having trouble winning a bid for 11-16. I noticed that no one has won a bid for the week of 11-16.I started at $150, bidding MTW, TS, CPS, MTE, Brooklyn (has no 4*), Coney (no 4*), Long Island (no 4*), Mad Sq (no 4*). I bid from $150-220. Do you have any tips for winning? I can't change my date, but am open to any other suggestions you might have.Thanks. This website is fantastic!
thereuare Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Glad to hear you're finding the site helpful. Is $220 your maximum bid at this time? Do you need a 4* hotel for this leg of your stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MarySB Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Posted October 1, 2010 Actually, I can go up to $280, but I tried 3 1/2 * hotels as well. Do you have any idea why no one has won a hotel the week of 11-15 to 11-19? It seems a little odd.Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 There is a hotel, motel, restaurant convention 11/13-11/16 and depending upon the size (i think about 35K attendees) that may be one factor of many which is having an impact on hotel prices. What is the purpose of this one nite stay... since you have won a bid for a stay later in the month, are you just 'passing thru' between flights, pre/post-cruise, etc? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MarySB Posted October 4, 2010 Author Report Posted October 4, 2010 Wow! I figured something must be going on! Those are the nights before and after we fly to Egypt and Jordan for a vacation. I did get a room---Loews Regency for $200. I see it gets mixed reviews, but that's the chance we take. Thanks for a great site!
