liquidskin Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Hi all,I'm trying to score a win on the Hyatt in Coral Gables. I've seen people post about getting this hotel for around $45, which seems like a great deal for me. My attempts so far havent been too great. I've bid up to $70 and still not come up lucky. Could this be because I'm bidding quite a while in advance? I feel like I'm taking a gamble with waiting, but if there's a very good chance I can get it for $45 or so; I'll roll the dice and wait till the trip is closer. Thanks for any insight

thereuare Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 For starters... you can't bid on a specific hotel. With PRICELINE you can receive any hotel in the zone(s) you select at the star rating (or higher) that you choose. There are other 4* hotels in this zone besides the Hyatt and there would be no way to increase your chances of receiving one over the others. As far as your failed bids, rates are date specific so rates are likely higher for your dates then when the other users won at bids of $50 and under. (it's also possible that the lowest rates are mostly available on weekends whereas your stay is for four nites midweek) It's possible that rates come down between now and your stay and you're able to success close to check-in, but there is no way to know for certain, and while you wait for rates to drop they could actually go up instead of down. See the related 'bid early or close to check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Given the above, are you willing to accept any 4* rated hotel in this zone? If so, what is your maximum bid at this time for this stay?Let us know your thoughts and/or any questions you have regarding the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. liquidskin Posted September 30, 2010 Author Report Posted September 30, 2010 Thanks for the reply.I'm aware that it the Hyatt wouldn't be a guarantee. That location is my preference, and I'd be somewhat disappointed if thats not the one I ended up getting, but it wouldnt be the end of the world. I've seen multiple wins for this hotel, so I assumed that the odds were in my favor. I was hoping to get by with $75 a night max...
AaronJB Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 If your bid has failed at $70, you can either bump up to $75 or wait. Waiting is a gamble - if there's something going on, prices could go higher.
