LaurenL Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I followed the better bidding strategy for Paris 4*, St Germain/Montparnasse and thought it would be the Marriot. I started with $115, since that what it seemed would win...NO, it was rejected, but said add $25 and try again, voila, it was accepted----But at the Meridian Rive Gauche, not the Marriot. Good deal, but not great since they have a discounted fall rate that is only $30 or $40 more than the $140 bid. But just the same, $140 is a great price for a 4* in Paris.....I would have preferred a smaller, more quaint place, but most were over $200, and for a one nite layover, I prefer to save the money, will need it for dinner. :) LaurenL

LaurenL Posted September 28, 2010 Author Report Posted September 28, 2010 I followed the Better Bidding/Priceline discussion of 4* Paris, Left Bank, thats St Germain, Montparnasse, Luxumbourg Gardens. It includes Sorbonne so is arty, bohemian, chic and pricy. The thread and several posts suggested it was the Mariott, and it would take about $ 105. Thats good since most 3* in area are over $ 150. Bid was turned down and then said, try $25 more. Hell, in Paris that's a cup of coffee and a pastry. So I bid $140 and won :) , but it was not the Mariott, but Meridian Montparnasse, an equally fine hotel. But when I went to check ammenities, I saw thay have a 30% off sale so the saving was really only about $30 -$40 dollars. But its still a good deal--I will be in Paris one nite, then Prague, and will return for 3 more--and most likely to try again to get the Meridian for $140. Stay: 9/26/10-9/27/10LaurenL
