JustinM Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 I'm looking for some help with a Priceline bidding strategy for a last minute trip to NYC, here's what I'm looking for:3* or higher, anywhere in ManhattanSep. 28th through Oct. 1st (three nights)Flexible on budget.I know this is an expensive time for NYC hotels, so I'd appreciate any help I can get with starting bids, re-bidding, etc. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)A few quick questions:What would be your desired max budget per night? Are there zones you would prefer? Are you looking to push towards your max for a 4* or would you prefer going for the most reasonable 3*?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
JustinM Posted September 25, 2010 Author Report Posted September 25, 2010 Thanks for the quick reply! Answers to your questions:1. Max budget would be around $2502. I'd prefer to be in midtown, Madison Square Garden area, but anywhere will suffice3. I'd prefer going for the most reasonable 3* if possible. Thanks again for your help. I'll absolutely use the links provided, this is a great resource and I definitely want to support it!
thereuare Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR are you looking for the least expensive 3* or higher for this stay?I do think you can be successful within the midtown zones within a $250 bid limit, did you want to restrict your bidding to just the midtown area? If not, i'd recommend including Downtown but not necessarily UES and UWS as these two zones go a bit far north and may not be ideal for the average visitor.Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your bidding. JustinM Posted September 26, 2010 Author Report Posted September 26, 2010 I'm trying to stay with the least expensive 3* or higher, as I'm working the entire trip and will only be in the room to sleep.I'd prefer to stay in the midtown zone, but anywhere from UES/UWS to downtown would be just fine. Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 I'd prefer to stay in the midtown zone, but anywhere from UES/UWS to downtown would be just fine. This is somewhat contradictory in us helping to determe a bidding strategy for you... are you willing to pay more to be in midtown or not? Also, just in case you're not familiar with or looked at the PRICELINE zones very closely... you're ok should you end up at 102nd St and Amsterdam? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. JustinM Posted September 26, 2010 Author Report Posted September 26, 2010 Yes, I'd pay more to be in midtown as that'd be the most convenient, but I meant that I'm also not picky if I'm placed elsewhere.
thereuare Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I do think you can be successful within the midtown zones within a $250 bid limit...Yes, I'd pay more to be in midtown as that'd be the most convenient...So do you want to bid up to your limit in midtown before adding other zones OR how high would you like to go in midtown before trying lower bids in less central zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
