Rachcu13 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Hi there, I am going down for a friends wedding and it happens to be a football game day on 10/23, so my Friday night is what is killing me. Looking for Wed, Thurs Fri night dates above.Have been trying for weeks on 4* at $85-$90 with no luck. Tried 3.5* at $80-$85. I have looked but can't find a listing of downtown properties on this site at 3* and 2* Priceline.com has the La Quinta downtown at 2*, but other sites like Travelocity have it as 3* - This hotel would work great because it is right near the wedding location. But I'm not sure it's on either list for bidding. Any advice? Really want the total including taxes to be $300 or lower. Have to be downtown, no other zones work. Thanks much.Rachel
thereuare Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!I have looked but can't find a listing of downtown properties on this site at 3* and 2*Have you looked in the Priceline Hotel List?? Really want the total including taxes to be $300 or lower. This may be tough including Football Saturday. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Rachcu13 Posted September 28, 2010 Author Report Posted September 28, 2010 splitting my bid is not an ideal option. The lowest price I've been able to find is around $113 per night for the La Quinta inn downtown. Any other thoughts, is there any bids I can do that will be accepted? sorry I found the hotel listing right after I posted my comment. I realize it's a football weekend but do I have no chance? Thanks.rachel
thereuare Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 There is no harm in trying, but with the football game there is probably little reason for hotels in the area to offer deeply discounted rates to the opaque suppliers... they can likely fill most of the rooms on their own at full price, and expect a fair number of 'walk-in' customers on game day (or the nite before) so that they may be willing to hold on to a higher than usual number of unbooked rooms. You can continue to bid to see if anything opens up, but at the very least i'd book the La Quinta as a back-up (assuming they have a refundable rate)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or our La Quinta link if you go that route.Let us know what you ultimately decide or if we can be of further help.
