Jake Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Just won this property for Halloween weekend. Was looking for 4* in Copley or Financial, but realized that the property in the Waterfront/Aquarium region was most likely Intercontinental so I included this zone in my rebid. Hotwire had a hotel listed for my dates at $179 that I figured was the Intercontinental based on list of amenities, so I figured I'd try bidding up to that amount on Priceline. I started at $120 a few days ago and increased in increments of $5 for my rebids adding each of the above zones plus a few dummy zones and eventually got it up to $160 with no success. I noticed on the calendar of wins this hotel was won recently for $165, so I bid $162 and got it.This was my first time bidding on Priceline and think it is great because it really benefits all involved. The Intercontinental is a large hotel so selling out all rooms for $331 a night for the weekend of my stay seems unlikely. This is a way they can book rooms that may otherwise be vacant. And I certainly wasn't going to pay $300+ for any hotel for 3 nights, so it worked out great for me. This website definitely helped out with my bidding strategy and gave me the confidence to start bidding. Also, I did use the PRICELINE link for this win. Thanks!
