I'm surprised by this win (since I didn't think I would be successful this far out), but happy! Been thinking about spending Mother's Day in Palm Desert, so started by bidding for a resort in PD at $65- rejected. Added PS at $69- rejected. Started over for a 4* PS only at $65-rejected. Added PD at $69-rejected. I didn't want to spend much more than that, so I started over again to bid a 2 1/2*. Thinking I might have a chance at my fav PD Crtyrd, I bid $42.

Congratulations! You got your price of $42 for a 2 1/2* room!

Holiday Inn Express Palm Desert

74675 Hwy. 111

Palm Desert, CA 92260

$42 + $12.30= $54.30

It's not a resort, but parking and breakfast are free. And this is a better location for us, as we're going to the Living Desert.

As always, bid through the Barn.

thereuare- just a side note:

After bidding, I looked at availability on Hotwire again. With 2 adults only, the HIExp showed up at $51, but if I added 1 child, it disappeared. On the HI website, it showed no availability for 2 adults/1child, but for 2 adults only, it showed 1 K at $139 best flex rate. Looking at the room description, it said max 2 people/room. I first called 1-800-HOLIDAY, and they confirmed my reservation as 1 K N/S (they e-mailed it to me). I then called the hotel, and spoke with a very nice gal. I explained we had a child, and asked if we could get a rollaway. She said they didn't have any, and she didn't know if she could change a Priceline reservation to show 2 beds. But she input it anyways, and sounded surprised that she was able to make the change to 2 B N/S. I guess we'll see when we get there.

I wanted to share this, as we were talking about Hotwire in San Diego, and the differences when you add kids in the search. I was thinking that certain hotels would show only for adults because of bedding-type inventory given (as is the case with this HI Exp). Maybe this is true. Hope I got lucky this time, but for someone else it may not be the case.

By the way, seeing $51 on HW tends me to believe I overbid a few dollars. The next person should try $37- I'd be interested to see if that's the magic number. Maybe not, though, as the flex rate is high, and it seems like alot of hotels have raised their PL rates.
