lobstajohnson Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Wow, I used priceline last year in November and got 3.5* for something like $175. I need to go in midOctober this year and WOW what a difference!I've been bidding for a few days and my last bids were $265 for MTW, MTE, and TS with no luck.Am I just unrealistically low-balling for this time of year? If I get up to the $365 range, it seems I can make a reservation directly with some of the hotels for that with less hassle.I've only used PL once before so I'm a relative newbie; any advice would be most appreciated.your pal, steve
AaronJB Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Sorry to hear that your bids haven't been accepted - rates are certainly higher this year than last year, and discounts are not as aggressive. Are there any listings of interest on HOTWIRE, or anything showing that looks promising when you search on Travelocity's "Top Secret" area for your dates?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Travelocity links to start your purchases and searches.
lobstajohnson Posted September 22, 2010 Author Report Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks Aaron! I did use the Travelocity link and checked out the "Top Secret" area! That was a new one to me. I have one question, though. On that site, they specify "Midtown" and "Upper East Side" but when you click on the "Maps" link it highlights all of Manhattan from Battery Park to 97th street (or thereabouts). Can you rely on the description, or the map?
thereuare Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Unfortunately, until proven otherwise i think the map is the 'rule' to go by... afterall, 'midtown' would be subject to interpretation. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or our Travelocity link if you go that route) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
