Mangomike Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 New to Priceline and Betterbidding. Going to Orlando Feb 3/11 to Feb 12/11. Based on the boards I was going to book the Marriot for a night and take advantage of the free park and fly option. Before I bid I wanted to know if there was a trick to get the Marriot or is it the only 3.5* in that area. Based on what I've seen this hotel can be had for $60 so I was going to start at $55 and move up $3 up to $70 until I get it. (Unless someone local can advise of any events that may drive the price up)Thanks for the assistance and this site is fantastic. I have and will always use your PRICELINE link.
imac Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 Yes it is currently the only known 3.5* in the Buffalo-Amherst area. As well it is the only 3.5* in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls bidding Zones. So this means you can bid and if your first bid isn't successful you can keep adding a new zone and rebidding (6 more bids).Good luck
Mangomike Posted September 19, 2010 Author Report Posted September 19, 2010 Much appreciated. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Mangomike Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 Just tried to book this hotel for Feb 4/11.I started from $45 to $67 and I did not manage to get it today. I will try again tomorrow. From what I have seen this hotel can be had for the mid 60s but if you believe I need to bid in the 70s then let me know. Thanks again to the BB community for all your assistance.I have and will always use your PRICELINE link.
thereuare Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 February is a long way off (in PRICELINE terms)... i wouldn't feel any need to chase this one at the moment. Also, at this point bidding twice a week or so should be plenty, if you bid daily you'll likely just get frustrated too quickly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and keep us updated. Mangomike Posted December 15, 2010 Author Report Posted December 15, 2010 Just to update BB. I tried again for this hotel and went up to $72. I'll try again next week.

bigredsfan Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 had the same issues with this hotel...closer to our date that we needed (about 2 weeks) we had better luck. This seems to work for the hotel
buteos Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 I stayed at the Buf-Niagara Marriott before and after my recent trip to Las Vegas, flying out of the Buffalo airport. The night before I flew out, a Saturday before a Bills home game, the opposing team which was the Cleveland Browns this time, stayed at the hotel, along with a huge fan entourage. I understand the opposing team always stays there so keep that in mind when bidding during football season.I rode back from the airport last night with a Canadian couple who came back from a visit in San Diego. They said a lot of Canadians are using that hotel for park and fly, since it's cheaper for Canadians to fly out of Buffalo than it is to fly out of Pearson. Keep Canadian holidays in mind when bidding. Also keep in mind that their shuttle stops running at midnight. My flight was supposed to be in at 10:30, got delayed out of Las Vegas, but still made it in by 11:05 PM. However, the luggage came out very slowly, and it was just midnight when we got back to the hotel. If you have to take a taxi, be aware that the hotel is not as close to the airport as most other "airport" hotels.I'm glad I bid and got this hotel . It is a great hotel with excellent customer service.
Mangomike Posted December 21, 2010 Author Report Posted December 21, 2010 Thanks for the heads up about the bills schedule but don't think they will make it. Didn't think about the shuttle do you think it will be an issue if I depart for 9 am Feb 5 and probably need the shuttle for 7. Arrival is mid afternoon so that shouldn't be a problem. Just to update BB I tried again and went up to 70 with no success. From what I've seen it I'll have more success 2 weeks out.
thereuare Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 I'm not sure if you're saying you need the shuttle for 7am or for 7 people... i'm guessing 7am won't be an issue but you can always call the hotel to ask what time the shuttle begins. Thanks for the update on your bidding and let us know if we can be of further help as you continue to bid. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

buteos Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 Mike,The airport shuttle starts running at 6 AM , I think. Check to make sure there's room on the shuttle for your time. You have to reserve it ahead of time. I saw flight crews there both times I stayed there so they may have priority.Personally I think you are bidding too early. HTH
