wuzupg Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 City: New York CityZone: Downtown - SoHo - Financial DistrictCheckin: 4/8Checkout: 4/9Rooms needed: 1Star Rating: 2.5*I originally bidded $80 and Priceline asked me to raise my bid by $22. I added another zone and raised to $85, then added another zone and raised to $90.On a side note: I was unsuccessful in bidding in increments for 3*, 4*, and 5* with a maximum bid of $130 on each. My logic for the low bids was that I could have booked a cancelable Ramada Inn on Lexington at $131.
thereuare Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 Thank you for posting. Was $90 your first bid in the Downtown zone at 3* or were you rejected at prior bid amounts?Enjoy your stay in NYC. wuzupg Posted March 24, 2005 Author Report Posted March 24, 2005 I started all biddings at $80 in Midtown East for 5*, 4*, and 3*.When I finally came to reality that I had to drop down to a 2.5*, I chose Downtown first because if there was going to be low bid accepted, it would have been in this zone and I didn't want to risk overbidding (in Downtown) by starting out in another zone and ending in Downtown, since there wasn't any free re-bidding zones left. The only reason why I was able to counter Priceline's counteroffer was that I used a zone that I preferred to stay in, which was Midtown East.
