balaji Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Hi,I am very new to bidding and have never bid in Priceline. I am trying to get a good 4* room for three nights from 10/06/10 till 10/09/10 (three nights). I am visiting New york for the first time. Would like to get a clean and quality hotel near the best attractions and shopping. Found through your site that Sheraton hotel 4* was won for the same days for 210$. My budget is below 200$ per night. Won't mind paying extra $10 for a good hotel and location. Need you help and guidance. Thanks in advance. Thanks. Balaji
thereuare Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Found through your site that Sheraton hotel 4* was won for the same days for 210$.Actually, the winning priceline bid you reference are for dates different then your own... your check-in and check-out are both one day earlier then that reported win, and that can make a big difference between success/failure.Let's assume rates at a given hotel for 10/6-10/10 are as follows (each nite):$350 - $200 - $200 - $200A guesting staying the first 3 nites would have an average rate of $250/nite... where as the guest checking-in and checking-out one day later (so the last 3 nites) would have a rate of only $200/nite.My initial take is that based upon current rates a win at a 4* hotel $210 or less would be a very good deal... do you want to try bidding for a 4* up to $210? If so, which zones are you willing to accept? At the 4* level MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB typically work out well for the average user, but you should take a look at those zones to make sure they're acceptable for your plans.Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.
