Priceline Hotel: Newbie - Help 9/21-9/24 3* NYC Times Square - Theatre District

Hi There! .... New to the forum and looking for some help using Priceline for New York.

Location: Time Square Theatre District

Dates: 9/21-9/24

I tried last night from $200 - $300 with 3* and it didnt work

Any sugestions?

What would your desired max budget be per night? Additionally, are any other zones acceptable aside from TS?

In terms of budget if we can stay below $400 would be nice and Midtown West would be good as well.

My advice would be to add other areas besides TS and MTW... these are very expensive dates in NYC, and it wouldn't make much sense (to me at least) to spend $50+ more per nite to stay in one of these two zones when you can stay in another nearby zone, likely just as convenient for your needs, for less. I'm not saying you shouldn't bid these zones, but i would suggest bidding as many zones as would be acceptable for your plans.

While we often 'warn' users of bidding MTE at less than 4 stars, it's certainly do-able (especially in September when the weather is nice) and at time that you don't feel like walking you can always jump in a cab to the subway or your destination. CPS i could understand not bidding if the possibility of the small rooms at the Hudson bother you... but when rates are as high as they are i would have no problem 'settling' for the MTE zone for a lesser price. At the 3* level MSG, Chelsea, ESB, TS (and based upon the above MTE and/or CPS) should be fine for the average visitors needs.

Do you want to stick with just these two zones or are other zones acceptable?

We would like stay as close to Times Square as possible ... however with high cost we may consider other areas. The rates dont seem to change much for the other areas. But if it is $50 difference ... thats significant savings over 3 nights.

At the 3* level the following zones are frequently bid:

MTE

MTW

CPS

TS

ESB

MSG

Chelsea

However, note the following 'cautions' for these zones which may or not effect your decision to include these zones:

MTE - some hotels are a 15 minute walk to the subway

CPS - contains the Hudson Hotel which has very small rooms (even by NYC standards)

So with the information above, let us know which zone(s) you'd like to bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

At the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.
