Priceline Hotel: Dulles

I'm traveling to a gun show in Chantilly, (Dulles region.) I need the lowest price possible for a room. Amenities are not critical. A room is.

Willing to drive up to 30 miles for the best fare. (Would like around $40 a night.)

Any tips?

This Friday and Saturday, and star, virtually any location, (within 30 miles of Dulles.)

There's a large knife and gun show in town, so I don't know if the area is all booked or not. Like to think PRICELINE can find a nice discount, even with all that going on.

Any tips are appreciated.

I am looking for the cheapest room, period. Any star. Of course, I've gotten 3 star hotels via Priceline before because they wanted people to fill their empty rooms on the weekends. I've gotten Hiltons and Radissons for $30-35 a night before. I just don't know the threshold in the DC area, by the airport.

The star rating you select with PRICELINE is the minimum that you are willing to accept... so you could bid the 1* level and if there is a higher rated hotel avaialble you will be upgraded to the higher rated hotel. However, this also means that you could be accepted at a 1* hotel for $25/nite when there is a 2.5* rated hotel available for $28 (the latter likely being the much better value) but you would never receive the 2.5* property since you never bid that high.

We don't typically recommend bidding on 1* rated properties as you may find something that works for your needs... or you may find something that you'd ultimately prefer not to stay in, and with PRICELINE you don't get to choose which type you will get. However, it's your stay so if you want to try for a 1* property this is how i would proceed:
