Priceline Hotel: Best time to go to NYC

I am looking to go to NYC next year at somepoint but have always been put off by the prices of hotels.

Please could you give me some advice on what time of year would be the best time to go in order to get the cheapest 4* Hotels in MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, MSG or Chelsea areas, how low can it go? when is the low season in NYC

The best time of year price-wise is the January-March time frame (especially right after the New Year), and parts of the middle Summer time frame (July-August) are also usually on the slower side, although not as consistently so as January-March. The nicest weather is the Fall, but the Fall-Winter are generally the most expensive time of year. During the late Winter (January-March), it's not unheard of to get a 4* for around $105-110, but I wouldn't expect much/any lower than that.
