Hotwire Hotel: Help with Hotel

I used Hotwire last year and got the Sheraton Waikiki for $115. We had a fantastic stay. We are going back next year from 18th June - 1st July and would really like to stay at the Sheraton again.

When I entered our dates (for 2 adults & 2 children) I came up with the following hotel:-

4* Beachfront, Fitness Centre, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry, High Speed Internet, 95% satisfaction - $159/night. I know this is not the Sheraton, thinking maybe Outrigger Waikiki?

When I entered our dated (just for 2 adults) I came up with this one:-

4* Resort, Beachfront, S/Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, laundry, High Speed Internet, Childrens facilities, 90% satisfaction - $129/night + this hotel also charges resort fee - I am pretty sure this would be Sheraton.

As there are 2 adults & 2 children in my party would I be ok to make booking as if there were just 2 adults & then email hotel and request room with 2 double beds, or should I just sit tight and wait for the Sheraton to appear for booking for 2 adults & 2 children.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The double/quad occupancy could be an issue... HOTWIRE only guarantees occupancy for the next of guests you include in your search. If you booked for two people and then called the hotel to request a room with two beds, it would be up to the hotel if they wanted to accommodate your request; they could grant your request without any problem, tell you they can't guarantee anything until check-in (but will sometimes make a note of your request on the reservation), charge an additional fee, or not be able honor your request at all.

Ultimately it's a calculated risk you need to decide if you're willing to accept, and also have an idea in your head if/how you will handle it should the hotel not be able (or willing) to offer you a room with two beds. How old are your kids... it's also often easier if your kids are little (under 6-7 years old) vs. teenagers (who are often viewed as 'adults' when it come to room rates at hotels)
