girlbidder Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Any advice on bidding for hotels within 5 blocks of the Washington convention center for September 16-18. I notice some users have bid and won these hotels such as the Renaissance. There is also a Grand Hyatt, Embassy Suites, Henley Park and Hampton Inn nearby. I know Priceline offers a 'convention center- capitol hill' zone, but I am worried that some of the hotels included are much further away. Maybe I would have better luck with Hotwire, but its zoning is even less targeted. Thanks
thereuare Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! When bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you select... there is now way to target, or avoid, part of the zone.HOTWIRE may be a better choice if you're able to reasonably identify the hotel before your purchase based upon the amenities shown, but there is of course still a risk that you need to guess correctly. With an excellent mass transit system, can i ask why you need to be within such a small radius of this location? If you need a specific location i'd enter the address you need into MAPS and HOTELS.com.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. girlbidder Posted September 13, 2010 Author Report Posted September 13, 2010 Thanks for the reply. I want to be within walking distance of the Convention center since I will only be in DC for a short time.
thereuare Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 I'm still not following why needing to be so close to the Convention Center... are you attending an event there OR doing typical tourist-y things? If the latter, is everything you want to do in the immediate area of the convention center? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
