Priceline Hotel: Convention Center Hotels

Any advice on bidding for hotels within 5 blocks of the Washington convention center for September 16-18. I notice some users have bid and won these hotels such as the Renaissance. There is also a Grand Hyatt, Embassy Suites, Henley Park and Hampton Inn nearby. I know Priceline offers a 'convention center- capitol hill' zone, but I am worried that some of the hotels included are much further away. Maybe I would have better luck with Hotwire, but its zoning is even less targeted. Thanks

When bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you select... there is now way to target, or avoid, part of the zone.

HOTWIRE may be a better choice if you're able to reasonably identify the hotel before your purchase based upon the amenities shown, but there is of course still a risk that you need to guess correctly.

With an excellent mass transit system, can i ask why you need to be within such a small radius of this location?

If you need a specific location i'd enter the address you need into MAPS and HOTELS.com.

Thanks for the reply. I want to be within walking distance of the Convention center since I will only be in DC for a short time.

I'm still not following why needing to be so close to the Convention Center... are you attending an event there OR doing typical tourist-y things? If the latter, is everything you want to do in the immediate area of the convention center?
