Hi board!

I'm planning on bidding for a week in vegas 10/3-9 at a 5*, what should I expect? I know my stay includes two weekend nights (sunday?, friday), but since it's a week long stay do you think I'll get an overall low rate?

Thanks!! This is my first time hearing about this site, and it's given me some pretty good tips :) I plan to update as soon as I start bidding!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Longer stays do not necessarily mean lower prices, and if rates are particularly high on a certain portion of the stay, splitting your stay into two parts may be worth considering. What would be your desired budget per night, and what zones/star ratings would you like to bid for?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I really would like to stay at 5* on the strip, I was thinking of starting at $85 and working my way up. I want somewhere in the range of $100-110 to be my max, then I'll go down and start all over again at 4*'s. What is splitting my stay into two parts? And does this site, or any other, offer advice on flight bidding?

Thanks for responding!

"Weekend" nites in Vegas are Friday and Saturday... rates drop usually plummet on Sunday and Sun-Thur nites are considered 'mid-week'; so you really only have one weekend nite in your date range. (assuming you're checking out on 10/9)

Assuming both Strip North and Strip South zones are acceptable you can proceed as follows:

At the 5* level you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 5* Strip North and Strip South...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110

I would bid the above for your complete stay. If rejected you can then decide if you'd like to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID and try again for a 5* for your midweek nites OR if you'd rather bid for your complete stay and lower your star rating to a 4*.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

So, update! I started my bidding this morning for a 5* on North Strip week of 10/3-10/9. Using dummies, I bid from $85-100 with no results. I figured I'd try to take Friday off, since it's my only "weekend" night (so my stay is now 10/3-10/8 and I got through with a $100 bid! :) Here's how it went:

5* North Strip (10/3-10/8) - bid $95 - priceline offer to +$25, didn't take

bid $100 - used dummy, bid accepted

So now I'm excited about this price, but have no idea what to do about my last day of stay 10/9. I tried bidding all the way up to $150 for a 5* for that last night using priceline but they wouldn't budge :) Maybe I'll just leave Friday night..? (I still haven't booked airfare yet.)
