Zedsdead Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Thanks to Betterbidding I was able to book a hotel last year in Aruba and get the Westin for 110.00 a night for 12 nights by using the Palm Beach,Aruba option on priceline. This allowed me to avoid the Renaissance which was my ultimate goal. I am attempting to do something similar this year but it seems that even if I type in Palm Beach for the search Priceline only pulls up a broad Aruba designation for the entire island. I do not want to stay at the Renaissance
thereuare Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 I guess PRICELINE has changed the zone boundaries for this area, which does happen from time to time.If there is a hotel in the area at the same star rating that you're trying to avoid your other option would be to search HOTWIRE and see if you can ID the property offered in the area based upon the amenities shown (or at least know that it's not the property you're trying to avoid... for example, if the property you're trying to avoid is not located on the beach, you could 'safely' purchase a HOTWIRE property which shows the Beachfront icon. Even if you don't know which property you'll be getting, it shouldn't be the one you're trying to avoid since that property is not located on the beach)The trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE. If you search HOTWIRE for your dates does anything appear within your desired star rating and budget? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you find and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. droch Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Since PRICELINE lets you directly book known resorts for a higher price you can tell what your getting. Resorts currently are Raddison Weston Hyatt and Marriot.Rennisance is the only 4 star listed.
thereuare Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 However, keep in mind that the "retail" version of PRICELINE and the "name your own price" version each use a different universe of hotels, so the hotels which appear in the retail version shouldn't be considered the only possibilities, nor should you 'expect' to win a hotel which appears in the retail side of their site as it may not participate in the bidding side.
