Priceline Hotel: 3* Niantic-Norwich-Mystic (Ledyard (Mashantucket)-Mystic) Hilton

Hi - Looking for bidding strategy for 3* Ledyard(Mashatucket) - Mystic for 9/13 for 3 nights.....see recent winning bid for 3* Hilton Mystic @62.00 for close to the same days, but not exact....can purchase this hotel thru Expedia for 99.00p/n so want to try Priceline to try & get it cheaper....as far as I can see I have 3 "free" rebid zones available to use at the 3* level....like to try max bid of 65.00-70.00 - do you think this is reasonable? I can always adjust the $$ amounts (higher or lower :) ) on the bidding strategy on my own...

Also clicking thru your HOTWIRE link, I see a 3* Mystic hotel for same period for $95.00 p/n...amenities are:

smoke free

breakfast

fitness

pool(s)

business center

high speed internet access

recommended 100% of hotwire reviews

This looks to be a match for the 3* Hyatt Place...would you agree? - can always purchase this if bidding is not successful...

I'd agree with your guess for the HOTWIRE property above... Hyatt Place seems to be the most likely outcome for that one.

As far as bidding you do have THREE re-bid zones, and given your stay is quickly approaching, i'd use the permutation method as follows:

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 3* Mystic...

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Mystic and re-bid zone2...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $70, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Mystic and re-bid zone3...

Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Mystic and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...

Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $80

Given your 'back-up' hotel will run you about $100, personally i would use a maximum bid of ~$80 and use the strategy above. As you said you can adjust the numbers to whatever you're comfortable with, but with just one day to go before your stay i don't think you can be too conservative and try to lowball too much.
