CurlyGirl Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 My best friend and I have been planning a girls' weekend in New York for months. Little did we know that when we settled on the dates of our trip, our first night in the city would also be the tail end of the UN General Assembly. As we soon found out, this drove prices way up or resulted in fully booked hotels. We stumbled on a fall special at the Hotel Belleclaire on the UWS for $263/night that we were using as a backup, and finally after several weeks of daily bidding on Priceline, our bid of $199/night for the Hotel Empire was finally accepted. Even though there have been some mixed reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor, I feel like I've won the lottery! I love the location and we'll only be using the room for sleeping. Thanks for all the bidding and rebidding tips and the comprehensive list of hotels. The rebids finally paid off and I knew exactly what hotel I'd be getting when my bid was accepted. I lived on the UWS on and off for 10 years and I can't wait to go back to my old stomping grounds. :)
