Hotwire Hotel: NYC 10/10-10/14 Help

Have been looking around on this forum and would like a little help. My sister and I are taking our mom to NYC for her 70th bday. First, how hard is it to make sure to at least get two double beds after the fact? It does not appear you can request this. Second, looking for a 4 star centrally located hotel. Was here with my family about a year ago and we stayed at the Hilton New York and loved it. The rooms were much more reasonable then, but out of reach now. I want this to be special for my mom and since this is only my second trip here, I still really do not know what strategy is best. Last time, just called the hotel direct. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to Betterbidding and Happy Early B-day to your mother. :)

Unfortunately, this Fall in NYC is quite expensive during most dates. Ensuring 2 beds is extremely difficult in NYC, with many hotels having small rooms, especially some boutique properties. With PRICELINE, the service only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy; one can request 2 beds via the hotel, but it's quite unlikely in NYC. If you search for more than 2 people on HOTWIRE, you are guaranteed bedding for more than 2 people, but that could mean 2 beds or 1 + sofabed or other combination.

What would be your desired budget per night for hotel?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

The only way to ensure accommodations for three people is to search HOTWIRE for triple occupancy... PRICELINE does not allow you to search for number of guests and all their reservations only guarantee double occupancy.

If you search HOTWIRE for your dates and 3adults does anything appear within your budget?

There is a 3.5 star midtown central for $299. Would you have any idea which hotel this is? There is also a 3 star in this area for $222 which would be a great price for me, but again do you have any idea which hotel this is based on amenities (fitness, food, pool and internet). There is also one in time square that is 3 star for $289 that is all non smoking that would be great. Can you give any input? Thanks again for any help!

Please provide the full list of amenities associated with each of these properties and we'll have a look. Also, make sure you're including 3adults in your search as the offerings (and prices) will likely change whether you're searching for 2adults vs. 3adults. Our search box on the top left of this page only searches for the default double occupancy, but if you click this HOTWIRE link you can select the number of adults/children.

The amenities were listed above. The only difference between the first two and the last one was non smoking. The search was for 3 also. Just redid the search and prices are higher right now, hopefully they will come back down! Any input you can give would be great.

We read a few hundred posts per day, please make it easy for us and post:

3* MTE for $195 with Amentieis: amenity1, amenity2, amenity3, amenity4

3.5* MTW for $215 with Amentieis: amenity1, amenity2, amenity3, amenity4

etc,

etc

This makes it much easier to research and refer back rather then:

(still not sure of the amenities for the 3.5*)

Are the current prices within your budget?

OK I will try to do this right...sorry for the confusion, I am new to this!!

3* TS $334 : no smoking, restaurant(s), business center, high speed internet

4* MTE $359 : fitness center, restaurant(s), business center, high speed internet

4* TS $384 : fitness center, restaurant(s), business center, high speed internet

Again my dates are 10/10 to 10/14 and there are 3 of us. I used the filters TS, MTE, MTC and central park. If you can suggest other areas that would be great. Keep in mind my mom will be turning 70 so really thought something centrally located might be best, but then again not really knowing. I would prefer to stay closed to the $300 or lower mark. Do you think this is possible? Thanks so much for your help.

4* TS - possible match for the Intercontinental or Crowne Plaza.

4* MTE - possible match for the Omni Berkshire or W, although I'd say the former is more likely of the two.

3* TS - my guess is that the Belvedere is a possible match.

Unfortunately, with three people, rooms are going to be more expensive and options more limited, as rooms with two beds are limited in NYC and HOTWIRE rates are generally more expensive for more than 2 adults (if you were to search for a regular rate listing at most NYC hotels, there would likely be an extra person fee charged for each adult beyond the 2nd adult in the group.)

When I search for 3 people on Travelocity for these dates, there is a 4* hotel in their Top Secret section in the Midtown area, but I'm not sure what hotel that listing may be, but it is showing at $282.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, Travelocity or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
