Hey all,

the forum is great and i learned a lot from the threads i read (but i still need some help).

i'm looking for a hotel in manhattan for 17-19/09/2010 (2 nights), but i failed to find anything below 200$ per night at Priceline.

My budget is 125$ at max per night :)

i don't mind the star level (a bed, shower and a safe for the laptop and the passport is more than enought).

i will appreciate advice on which zones should i consider and bidding strategy,

Thanks,

(sorry for my bad english :) )

Have you tried bidding already or are you looking at the 'retail' listings where the price is shown?

This isn't likely going to get you too far in NYC... what is the minimum star level you're willing to accept? Which zone(s) are you willing to accept? What is your game plan should you not succeed at $125 or less?

i havent made a bid yet.

i dont mind the star level (the only reason i'm trying to avoid sleeping in a hostel is the reason im traveling with a laptop and cash, and from most of hoster reviews i read, it isn't so secure..)

advise please?

HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel in the Chelsea-MSG zone for $136 which includes a Complimentary Breakfast. Full amenities shown are: Breakfast, Fitness, Internet, Business

This property is well located and gets pretty good reviews... would this be of interest (and with the included breakfast worth the few extra dollars over your budget) OR do you want to try PRICELINE to in hopes for something under $125? If you want to try PRICELINE let us know your minimum star rating and the zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

I'd really recommend taking the 3* Chelsea property if you do look for a hotel, as that's a surprisingly decent rate during a VERY busy Fall season, and not too many hotels include breakfast.

Thank you for keeping us updated and for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
