Shawn612 Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Hi,I'll be arriving in San Francisco on 10th September and planning to stay in downtown from Sep. 10th to Sep. 12th.As the strategy suggested in this Priceline San Francisco thread seemed to be exactly applicable to me, I just tried in the same way except for the date. However, I failed all as summarized below. The plan is all set and I've got a book a hotel in downtown of san francisco during the said date.I do not have much time now and starting to be worried.(I have been trying 4* for the last one week and went up to $120, but failed. And, now even 3.5* try was not successful.)Could anyone give me some more follow-up strategy?1. thereuare Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messagesThen let us know exactly which zones you're willing to accept at the 3.5* level and how high you're willing to bid (before you begin to consider staying outside of downtown and/or lowering your star rating)... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Shawn612 Posted September 8, 2010 Author Report Posted September 8, 2010 I used PRICELINE link given here and I'll be using the same link all the time.My original plan was 4* in SOMA.But now I do not care if it is located in any of SOMA, FD, USE or USW.Also, I would like up to 3.5*.Today I noticed quite a few low prices of 4* hotels in this area has gone down.So I want to try 4* first and then 3.5*. I suppose trying 4* would not limit the cases I can play with 3.5*.
thereuare Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 No problem bidding 4* and then 3.5*... i'm assuing you're still interested in the 4 zones you bid previously with a $100 maximum bid? If so...At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones... at the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* SOMA, FD, USE or USWSelect 4* USE and USW and FD...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* SOMA...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* SOMA and FD and USE and USW...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINEYou can then repeat the above at the 3.5* level. My guess is that your bids will still fall a bit short, but give it a try and let us know how it goes. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck. Shawn612 Posted September 9, 2010 Author Report Posted September 9, 2010 This morning, I failed again with PRICELINE for 4* and 3.5* although I added $15 more for each suggested value by thereuare. But I found just now that there is $107 deal in HOTWIRE for 4* and got that deal expecting it is MONACO because someone already posted at this site that he got a close price deal in the same USW area. Now, I am relieved and learned when HOTWIRE site is useful. I rarely cared about HOTWIRE after searching a few times before. Thanks for BetterBidding!
