ladybugsea Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Started over a week ago bidding almost daily on 4* (up to $85) and 3.5* (up to $60). I have read that counteroffers are random. Curiously, all 3 times I bid up to $80 for the 4*, I got counteroffers to raise $20 to $100. AND all 3 times I ignored the counteroffer, started over, bid $85, and got yet another counteroffer to raise $20 to $105. Finally today I decided to go up to $90 after the two counteroffers and was accepted. Disappointed I had to go so high, there must be something going on. When I bid $50 for 3.5* yesterday, I got "Based on recent data, your offer has only a small chance of being accepted." I had been hoping to get a 3.5* under $60. Hilton price on HOTWIRE through Hotels.com was $135 so it's still a good deal. Used BB PRICELINE link, thanks!
thereuare Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Sorry you had to go a bit higher then you originally expected, but still looks like a nice deal given conventional rates for this nite.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. xza8 Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 I am staying at the Hilton right now (paid $73/night) and it is so not worth it.
