Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* Newark (Jersey City) Hyatt Regency on Hudson

Decided to forego PriceLine and use Hotwire for a four day stay. Secret to lower price was to go over the weekend as the price for a week day stay was $223 per night. Also, hotel website says that breakfast is free if you come in on the weekend. Only downer is the $15 per day to park. However, there is the low cost option of a train or even bus, compared to air! I am coming in from the Cleveland area where my options are multiple.

Thanks to "Thereuare" for providing this service. I used your HOTWIRE link per your request.

Hotwire is currently showing a 3.5* property that appears to be the JC Hyatt for $89 for the following dates: 5/4-5/6. For the dates of 5/2-5/4 or 5/2-5/6 the rate jumps to $286 :)

Something must be going on during the early dates of your trip, maybe a big show at the Javits Center in NYC?

Thanks for the support! I think you did you did the right thing changing your dates as those first two nites of your previous stay would have been extremely difficult.

There is some free parking in the area nearby on the weekends (Friday 7pm - Monday 6am)

Enjoy your stay.

We are taking Amtrak to Penn Station from Ohio and arriving around 3:15 PM on a Friday with suitcases in hand and want to go to the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City. Which route is preferred? The PATH Journal Sq. line at 33rd and transfering at Pavonia/Newport to Hoboken-WTC line to Exchange Place, or taking a subway, like the 2 or 3 (which one is preferred?) to the WTC and transfering to the Path - Newark or Hoboken line to Exchange Place.

Which route is easier to accomodate our suitcases? Which line has the better clientele; thinking here of safety. Thinking about taking only those very small 20 inchers on wheels for our four night stay.

Taxi is not an option as we have managed large suitcases before in London. There we trained into Victoria Station from the Gatwick Airport and took subway to our hotel and vice versa.

The first option (33rd St. PATH) is the better option.

However, if your Amtrak train also stops at Newark Penn Station you can get off there and tranfer to the PATH (WTC line to Exchange Place). Clientele isn't that nice, but at 3:15pm on a Friday afternoon there should be no problems (just don't go wandering the streets of Newark).

Exchange Place Path accesibility

Exchange Place has

- a bunch of escalators - follow the hordes leaving the train - can't really miss 'tm (which will bring you out next to the PATH - just look to the right and you'll see the driveway leading to the hotel

- Some elevators which take you out about 1/2 block away. From the train platform, follow the signs for wheelchair access. Once groundside, come out the doors, hang a right and then a left in front of the main PATH entrance (the one with the escalators(!))

You're fairly safe getting from exchange place to the Hyatt
