I would like to share something that has worked for me while trying to secure hotel accommodations. I have been looking at 4* Hotwire hotels in the Atlanta. There is usually one listing for a 4* in Buckhead I would like to share something that has worked for me while trying to secure hotel accommodations. I have been looking at 4* Hotwire hotels in the Atlanta. There is usually one listing for a 4* in Buckhead that list the following amenities:

Fitness Center

Pool(s)

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

I initially thought it was one hotel until I noticed that on any given day one listing has a 75% customer recommendation and one has an 85% customer recommendation. When you click on the hotel it takes you to the next screen where you have the option to read reviews. I decided to read through the reviews and was able to glean useful information.

4* w/75%-A lot of the reviews indicate that the hotel is chic/hip and geared toward a 20-something crowd. At least one of the reviews mentions that the bathroom has no tub in the bathroom. After brief research into Buckhead 4* hotels the only one I noticed w/out a tub is the W-Buckhead.

4* w/85%- I noticed that at least one of the reviews indicate that this property only has an indoor pool. Again after brief research of buckhead 4*, the only one w/ an indoor pool is the Westin buckhead.

I'm not sure if this is fool proof because I didn't follow through with the purchase, but reading the customer reviews before purchasing may be a step in the right direction. I'm more of a Intercontinental or Grand Hyatt type of person and given these findings I am still searching.

Thanks for the tip. I will try it on my next ATL trip.

I used Priceline last weekend and got the W Hotel. I am 61 years old and the W does not appeal to me at all. In addition to my not liking the decor or atmosphere, you are required to use valet parking at $32 per day.

I have always loved the Priceline 4* Buckhead hotels. Before the W ruined things, the possibilities were the Intercontinental (unfortunately now a 5*, and deservedly so), Grand Hyatt, Westin, and JW Marriott. These are all super-fine hotels. I am afraid the W will be what you always get on Priceline going forward. In my opinion, it is not remotely comparable to the other 4* in this area.

Bidding Pro,

Note that the post above is form 2010 and may not be valid any more on a variety of fronts:

-new hotels could have been added to the system

-other hotels may have been upgraded/downgraded

-the percent recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests may (likely) have changed

-HOTWIRE now not only uses the 'Pool' amenity, but now also uses an 'Indoor Pool' amenity (not the case when the above was originally posted)

While some of the information above may still be valid, some of it very likely is not, so use caution and try to put more emphasis on the information that withstands the test of time and less emphasis that is likely to change more quickly.
