Priceline Hotel: Trying for 4* Sacramento downtown - unsuccessfully

I've tried twice now for a 4* hotel in downtown Sacramento. There are only three - they Hyatt, Sheraton and Citizen. I have six re-bid zones. I see that three times in the past few months people on this board have gotten one of these hotels for less than $80. I've gone up to $85 in each bidding process, but haven't been successful. My trip is now only 5 days away (checking in on the 10th). Any ideas?

Rates vary by dates, and these would appear to be busier dates - what would be your desired max bid per night for a 4*? With a 4* in downtown Sacramento showing for $99 on HOTWIRE for these dates, I don't think you're far off - if you were not accepted at $85, I'd try next for $88.

It's a two-night stay: Friday and Saturday (this week).

Great news. I got the Sheraton Grand for $85/night on my 5th re-bid try. This happens to be the one I preferred of the three 4* hotels downtown, because it's where the seminar I'm attending is located.
