bond316 Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Hey so I was thinking of booking this 5* Las Vegas Strip - North area Hotel (through the betterbidding HOTWIRE link of course). But I wanted to ask what you guys thought the hotel was. My guess is The Palazzo.Dates: Sept. 17 - 19Amenities: Resort, Suite, Casino, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Hi-speed InternetTotal cost: $358.05Also do you think the $20 trick would work at this hotel? Thanks!
bond316 Posted September 3, 2010 Author Report Posted September 3, 2010 Hi everybody! I was thinking of either using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE (betterbidding links :) ) to book a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. The best deal i found for a 5* on Las Vegas Strip North through hotwire for $358.72 total. Do you think I would be able to find a better deal (< $358.72) via priceline for the same dates and area? What should I start bidding at?Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 If you go back to HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering and then click the "See all " link on top of the icons, do you see more amenities than what you've listed above?...through the betterbidding HOTWIRE link of course...Please use for your searches too... please click this HOTWIRE link before replying.THANKS! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

AaronJB Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 This would be a possible match for the Venetian or Palazzo. Success with the "$20" trick may vary by hotel and who you talk to at check-in.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper then HOTWIRE, so if you're flexible as far as which 5* hotel in the zone you get, then you can probably do a little better then the HOTWIRE rate. What is the room rate (before taxes and fees thru HOTWIRE)... is your goal to just beat this price? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bond316 Posted September 4, 2010 Author Report Posted September 4, 2010 The zone I'm looking for is the Strip North. On HOTWIRE the price is: Price summaryHotel rate per night: $155.00Nights: 2Rooms: 1Subtotal: $310.00Tax recovery charges & fees: $48.05Total price: $358.05 My goal is to get a 5* on the Strip North for as cheap as possible, PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Thanks!

bond316 Posted September 5, 2010 Author Report Posted September 5, 2010 After I do just one rebid I get this message:Thank You for Naming Your Own Price – Unfortunately, we can't accept your offer. During our search, however, we did find special priceline rates available for your travel dates at the hotels shown below. At that point I can not name my own price anymore. Is there a way to get around this?
AaronJB Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 If you click out of the browser, then click this PRICELINE link, can you bid again?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Using this PRICELINE link you should be able to bid again, but you'll need to use your re-bid zones and proceed with the strategy above where you left off... you won't be able to 'only' bid the Strip North zone, you'll need to add a re-bid zone to continue.Let us know if you have any further problems. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bond316 Posted September 6, 2010 Author Report Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks for that link. So I bid $120 selecting Las Vegas Strip North and Summerlin and got this message:Try Again Right NowWe searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we can't accept your offer of $120 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number ###-###-###-##. If you are willing to raise your price by $30 to $150 per room, per night, you can try the same request again right now.Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested. What should I do at this point?
thereuare Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 It's basically telling you that the 'right' price is someplace between $120 and $150... i'd just continue with the strategy above, if ultimately rejected we'll revise to go the extra $10 more in the subsequent round of bidding. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
