Hotwire rental cars, can they cross the border?

My car just busted and I have a road trip in two days all the way up from Canada to NJ. My parts can't be here on time and I'm the only one out of the group that had a car able to make the trip.

The rental rates on HOTWIRE are very good, does anyone know if you can cross the canadian/US border with their cars? I know it's not all companies that do it, and I'm not sure how milage works with HOTWIRE.

I'm hoping an informed HOTWIRE car renter can chip in. I'd bring the car back where I rented it as I live here.
