sockmonkey75 Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Stayed here the last time I was in Hawaii (about a year ago). The pics on the website looked so good so I was pretty excited to book a room here for a decent price. However, upon arrival we were put in a horrible room with a broken toilet that was super loud. The room was in desperate need of an upgrade. We requested a new room as soon as we saw the room we were assigned but seeing as they were full, we were out of luck. We spent one night in the room and had to request a different room - we had to wait for one to become available but they did accommodate our request to switch rooms. The second room was at the front side of the hotel and was much better. Definitely an acceptable room for the price we paid (about $85/night)We had a small lanai but didn't have much of a view, as it overlooked a street that had a fair number of undesirable people that liked to loiter around there. As a woman I honestly don't think I'd want to walk in the neighborhood by myself after dark. And I'm a pretty brave person ... so that says a lot ...Anyways, we're returning to Waikiki next month but we didn't even consider the Aqua Aloha Surf this time - we booked on Priceline and are staying at the Marriott Waikiki Resort & Spa for $100/night - well worth the few extra dollars!!
