jackie1955 Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 I am looking for 3 rooms for 6 adults and 3 children, ages 4 and under, for a pre- cruise March 5th 2011 for one night. I am new to the site and not sure which way to go, priceline or hotwire. Would like it to be in the 50.00 to 65.00 range if possible.

thereuare Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I really dont care where... I wanted it to be close to the pierSo you do care where :) The Downtown zone is the closest to the pier.OK, in a nutshell...With PRICELINE you need to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or better) that you choose. While there may be some hotels at the lower star levels which meet your needs (ie- clean), you are dealing with lower rated/budget hotels, so there may be some which do not... and with PRICELINE you can't choose which type you will get, so you need to choose a star rating that you're comfortable with. As well, note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, and there is a chance you can get a room with only one bed, so this would be another risk you would need to accept. This is less of a problem in this area then say in NYC where rooms are notoriously small and often don't have room for even a rollaway, but Miami is still a city and something you need to consider (i wouldn't try this in say South Beach as the risk would increase there, imo)HOTWIRE allows you to search for more than double occupancy and also let's you take a guess as to the hotel you may receive based upon the amenities shown before your purchase. As well, HOTWIRE often shows tripadvisor reviews so you can get a feel for 'user satisfacation' as well as reviews they receive from their own customers, which is information that makes it a little easier to purchase a lower rated hotel. HOWEVER, a current HOTWIRE search doesn't show anything close to your budget... but it's still quite early. What is the best rate you're currently able to find at an acceptable hotel? You may also want to check out Hotels By The Pier to get a feel for the hotels in the area and which are closest to the pier (you can also use this to compare to PRICELINE's and HOTWIRE's zones to see which of their zones are closest to the pier)Based upon the above let us know how you'd like to proceed and how we can help further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
