I am trying for a 3.5* 9/9/-13 for two rooms. My last bid of $140 was rejected. Rooms at the Hilton are $203 with a Senior discount. Is $140 still to low to bid? What would be reasonable? Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Rates for these dates are high and at the moment $140 is not enough for a 4* hotel in this zone. However, when researching this i noticed that in many instances the Sunday nite of your stay is more expensive then the others... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? (NOTE: you may likely have to change hotels if you choose to split)

Also, please confirm, by PRICELINE name, which zone(s) you have been bidding, as there is no "Back Bay" zone on PRICELINE.

The area is Copley Square-Theater District. I don't want to have to change hotels with the chance of a split bid. I do see Priceline has a winnning bid of $150 night for a 3.5*. Is it harder because I am looking for two rooms and four nights? Thanks for your help.

Rates do vary by dates and can often vary significantly from day-to-day; the $150 is most likely for different dates. Rates are on the higher side for these dates and will unfortunately require a higher bid; I don't think two rooms is an issue. Rates are considerably cheaper when looking on HOTWIRE for 9/9-11 only vs looking up 9/9-13 together.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Besides Copley Square would other nearby areas, such as Quincy Market and/or Boston Harbor Front work for your needs?

What is the best available rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?

In addition to the above, how much of a discount do you need vs. the $203 rate at the Hilton to make a opaque purchase worthwhile?

I booked the $203 so I would at least have that. Then I tried splitting the days and got $157/night for 9/9 & 10. I called to see if they would give me that rate every night but they said no. So, as of now I have 2 nights at $157 and two nights at $203. Now, I am afraid to bid because I don't want to change hotels. My parents are almost 80 and don't want the hassle. If it were just my husband and I would. So I guess I will just keep looking to see if they rates go down or maybe try again to see if they will match the $157 rate. Any ideas?
