Priceline Hotel: Bidding strategy for the Chelsea Tower

I wanted to know if anyone can help with securing a room in the Chelsea Tower for 10/29 - 11/1.

Someone I know recently was able to get a room there over these dates for $50/night. I believe they put in 3 stars as the category. I believe that the Sheraton is also 3 stars and I do not want to end up there since I'd like to be on the boardwalk and close to the Trop.

Did this person just get extremely lucky? Would the Chelsea only have 1 room available at that price but then add another back to the PL inventory next week?

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding :)

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. You need to be willing to stay at any 3.5* or higher in the zone you're bidding at. Both the Chelsa and Sheraton is currently rated 3.5* by boards latest reports.

It's hard to say since it's a complicated answer. But the hotel with the lowest rates loaded in the PRICELINE system "will win the guest".

Please read this link: I've never used Priceline or Hotwire

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

Let us know how we can help you further.

are the Chelsea and the Sheraton the only 3.5 star hotels in the area?

just trying to figure out if you keep trying to bid low on PL, would you definitely end up with one of these.

so it would not be correct to assume that based on that list of AC area hotels of 3.5 stars....Sheraton, Chelsea and Trump Plaza that I would get one of these if I bid at that star level?

I don't think any new hotels have been built in that area recently. Do you ever have to worry about them bumping you up to 4 star? I know they can't give you a 3 star if you bid on a 3.5 star right?

Again, appreciate the input.

You need to be willing to stay at any 3.5* or higher in the zone you're bidding at.

Star ratings can change at any time. 3* hotels can be upgraded to 3.5*, 4* can be re-rated to 3.5*, and there could be a new hotel we don't know about. And no, you can't get a 3* when bidding 3.5*.

I hope this answer your question.

These are the hotels reported to the board at this star level, as noted above not only can these star levels change at any time, but there could also be other hotels at this star rating not yet reported to the board.

So no, this should not be considered a finite set of the possible hotels you could receive.
