dcal85 Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 I will be traveling to New York in October, arriving on the 8th and checking out on the 13th. I'm looking for a 3 star or better that is somewhat centrally located but I am not picky on location. I'd like to stay under $150 if possible. Can anyone help? Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Based upon current rated I think your budget is going to be tough for these dates, but to give it a try, go to PRICELINE and look at the zones in this region.. are MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB, MSG and Chelsea all acceptable?Note that at less then 4* the Millenium UN comes into play in the MTE zone, which typically gets decent reviews but is about a 15 walk to the subway. As well, in the CPS zone the Hudson Hotel has notoriously small rooms. Would both of these outcomes be acceptable, or would you not want to bid these zones? Given the difficult (read: high prices) of your dates i would try to include alll zone(s) which are acceptable, but if you wouldn't be happy with either of theses properties (or any 3* or higher in the zones above) then you shouldn't bid that zone.Let us know the above and we'll advise and suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dcal85 Posted August 28, 2010 Author Report Posted August 28, 2010 I would be ok with any of the following zones: Central Park South, Downtown/Soho, Empire State Building, MTE, MTW, Times Square, Upper West. A 15 minute walk is not terrible to me and I'm not overly concerned about small rooms...although probably more so than a bit of a walk. If that is not possible, what do you think would be a more reasonable budget for these dates? Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 My gues if that it will take more along the lines of $175-$100 but if you'd like to stick with $150 at the moment you can try as follows:Select 3* CPS, DT, ESB, MTEBid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTW, TS, UWSBid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTW, DT, ESB, MTEBid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS, TS, UWSBid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS, TS, ESB, MTEBid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTW, DT, UWSBid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS, DT, UWS, MTEBid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTW, TS,ESBBid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
