Thanks to this forum for all the great information. There's a lot of information, but as a newbie, I had no problem figuring it all out! :)

I just had my first priceline experience--no problems. Being a Canadian resident, I followed the suggestions in the Canada specific post for what to do with your address, and found that my RBC USD Visa had no problems working. I can avoid the currency charges this way too!

I wanted a 4 star hotel for a 1 night visit to Fort Lauderdale on 14 April 2005. Having determined what hotels were in each zone, I elected to choose the Downtown zone. I noted that many areas were free re-bids as I was going for a 4 star, so I intentionally bid low.

I started at $50, downtown zone, and the bid was rejected. I was offered the chance to increase my bid by $14, which I declined.

I then added the Coral Gables free rebid, and increased my bid to $53. Bid was rejected.

I then added the Airport free rebid, and increased my bid to $57. Bid was accepted.

Total price, including taxes and fees is US$71, which is a steal for this hotel.
