travelers Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 I am a first time user of your website and have never used Priceline before. My husband and I will be traveling to Las Vegas and will need a hotel for the nights of 8 through 12 May. Our first choice would be to stay at the Venetian. The Venetian website quotes a suite rate for that period at $219 daily. Hotwire is quoting $223 per room per night (I believe it is the Venetian--it does have the business icon). I am not familiar with the rebidding process at all. I would welcome a bidding strategy to try to secure the Venetian. Is this a good time to bid with Priceline or should I wait until closer to our travel dates? Thanks.
thereuare Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! Here are two threads to get you started:I'VE NEVER USED PRICELINE or HOTWIREPRICELINE RE-BIDDING EXPLAINEDIf you don't understand re-bidding after reading the above link, there are instructions near the end of the linked thread about listing each zone and the highest star rating offered in each zone which will help us explain it further.A few questions though...-how high are you willing to pay to get the Venetian-if unsuccessful at your maximum amount, are you willing to try SPLITTNG YOUR BID?-do you have a back-up reservation yet (if so, where and how much) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
travelers Posted March 19, 2005 Author Report Posted March 19, 2005 Thanks for your reply and the two links you provided to assist with the learning process. We do not currently have any backup reservations. We would be willing to pay up to $115 per night--does that seem reasonable or must our maximum be more like $125? Do you believe we will have a problem because we are combining a Sunday night with remaining week nights? I did see at the Venetian website that May 8 a suite can be had for $149 that night but when I included all the dates of our travel, everything jumped to $219 per night. At this time we do not want to split our bid.
thereuare Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 Unfortuantley, with current rates i don't think the Venitian is going to come into play for you.Harrah's is available for your dates for $117/nite.Treasure Island is available for $132/nite.The above two are your best options as far as i could currently find (without splitting your dates), with Treasure Island being a 4* hotel and Harrahs being a 3* property.HOTWIRE is currently down so i can't check rates thru them, but they opaque services are often not competitive in the Las Vegas market, so there is a good chance that the above will be your best current options. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
