A live update...

Got upgraded to the Royal Hawaiian next door. Very nice service and very nice room. Resort fee is $20, but includes internet, bottled water, phone calls, free non-alcoholic drinks at the Mai Tai bar by the beach; and also self-parking. That's very very reasonable. Should have rented a car instead of using shuttle/taxi.
