aggiegirl Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I just tried Priceline for the first time tonight and bid $38 for a three star hotel near PDX Portland Airport. It was accepted and I got the Holiday Inn at PDX. I've finished reading reviews and am horrified!! I booked two rooms for myself and a friend and the friend is very sensitive to bad smells and there are repeated references to bad smells and poor conditions at this hotel. I'm mystified that such a hotel that hasn't been updated since the 80s would be classified as a 3 star. I don't think I'm ever going to do Priceline again!
yellowdog Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing your result with the board!Sorry to see that you don't like the outcome. Yes, this property looks like an older one with renovations starting this fall. But i would like to add that you shouldn't judge PRICELINE for one hotel. There's plenty of good deals to be done.Maybe HOTWIRE is a better option for you. If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive. We hope you stay will be better than the reviews. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start future purchases.Yellowdog.
