Raymo72 Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 HelloI have been offered the Warwick for the 5th to 9th of October - 4 nights at $310 per night exc taxes . I am trying to decide if this is a good deal or if i should try for a similar or the same hotel on priceline?can anyone help with suggestions? We are getting married in this time in NY and then going to south america so want luxury and value!regardsRay
AaronJB Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Congrats on getting married! I think you could probably do better via PRICELINE - what would be your desired budget per night, and which PRICELINE zones would you be interested in staying within?Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.
Raymo72 Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 Hi Aaron My budget could stretch to this but ideally be lower - $200 per night would be good! (before tax)We would like anywhere quite near central park -I think most of he 4 starts look fine - or is there any we should avoid? We also quite like the Hudson at 3.5 starscheersRay
thereuare Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 We would like anywhere quite near central park...Have you been to NYC before and familiar with this area? Exactly which zone(s), by PRICELINE name, are you willing to accept. We also quite like the Hudson at 3.5 starsNote that this is currently rated 3.5* by PRICELINE, so if you want to go for a 4* hotel (as per your quote above) you'll hever have the opportunity to win it since it woudl be below your minimum star rating threshold.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.lPlease use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.PS- please read your messages and click this PRICELINE link before replying Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Raymo72 Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 We havent been to NY before and only know what we have read/seen onlineThe areas of interest are Central Park South , Upper West Side , Upper East Side , Times Square ,Midtown Westwe want to be clsoe to everything and central park the reason i have mentioned The hudson is as it is the only 3.5 star of intrestlink has been clicked
thereuare Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 It's NYC, which is BIG, and you therefore can't be close to everything, what you really want (i imagine) i to be centrally located so that you can easily get to everything fairly easily... which basically means being near a subway station, and if possible, multiple subway lines. In this regard, UES and UWS are not really the most convenient for the average visitor... at the 4* level, MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB all typically work well for the average user. Please look at the PRICELINE map of zone and boundaries and let us know which areas you decide you would like to bid and we'll suggest a strategy for whatever area(s) you choose)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Raymo72 Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 I think the preference is CPS , MTW, MTE
Raymo72 Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 Hi , is anyone able to offer advice?much appreciated
thereuare Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Based upon current rates i don't think $200 is likely going to be enough for a 4* hotel for these nites. If you want to give it a try...At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS , MTW, MTE...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Raymo72 Posted August 27, 2010 Author Report Posted August 27, 2010 does it make any difference where i start? for example $130 is never going to be accpted , am i as well starting at $180?
thereuare Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 If a hotel entered a rate incorrectly, or just had a very large block of rooms cancel their reservation, would you want to pay the lower price? It doesn't happen often, but it does happen, as recently as this Hotwire Toronto thread. Sometimes it pays to bottomfish, but if you prefer to start higher and someplace in the middle of the suggested strategy, that is your prerogative. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
