4wdw Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Hi:We will be visiting Atlanta for a Braves game on August 28 for one night only. We live nearby in South Carolina so will be driving. We are not familiar with the Atlanta area and was hoping you could provide us with suggestions on the best area to stay in. I see in a previous post that Buckhead is a nice area, but will it be convenient as far as getting to the field and back. Our two teenagers will also be traveling with us.Thanks so much.

4wdw Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 Sorry...didn't realize I had posted twice.
yellowdog Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Best guess would be Doubletree Buckhead. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link, and let us know how it goes or if you need any additional help with your stay.Yellowdog.PS. Please follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing, even if you chose to book direct, cancell your trip, etc.
4wdw Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 The Buckhead area seems to be further out than I had thought...sorry not real familiar with Atlanta. We are coming in on I-20 and were looking for something convenient to Turner Field.
thereuare Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Turner field is located in the south part of HOTWIRE's Downtown zone... why not look at Downtown? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
4wdw Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 Haven't read many good reviews on the downtown area. Was thinking of going a little further out towards Lithonia or Conyers. We could drive down a little earlier, check-in and then head to the game. It's just going to be an overnighter, however, since we're only about 2 1/2 hours away I've considered driving back home as well.
thereuare Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Have you tried searching HOTWIRE for the Downtown area? Perhaps you could ID the hotel offered to determine if it's one of the better ones in the area (or at least see a 'good' Tripadvisor rating to give some assurance) and then have a 'good' hotel along with the convenience of a downtown location.Let us know what you decide to do regarding staying the nite and if we can of further help. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. yellowdog Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Please keep all posts in the same thread since posts are for the same dates.Without the TA rating to get an additional clue is this a match for both Hilton and Sheraton Atlanta. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link, and let us know how it goes or if you need any additional help with your stay.Yellowdog.PS. Please follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing, even if you chose to book direct, cancell your trip, etc.
4wdw Posted August 29, 2010 Author Report Posted August 29, 2010 We ended up driving to and from the game since we are only about 2 1/2 hours away. Surprisingly, traffic was not bad at all.
