Priceline Hotel: New York hotels, Sept

Hello.

I'm new to all this, I have done lots of reading up, so I'll try not to ask any silly questions.

I'm looking for a hotel in NYC 15th Sept for four nights. I'm quite flexable regarding location, my main priority is getting a good hotel for a great price.

I have put one bid on priceline for 4 star for several areas. My starting bid of (

After lots of reading, frowning and head rubbing, I finally get the re-bidding (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained)! Thank you for all you're advice. One quick question... do you think that I am more likely to get a better deal nearer the time? I have just offered up to $185 for 4* in Manhattan but I'm still getting rejected. Any more advice?
