Hi-I need a little help since I am booking for other people. Lot more pressure! I need three hotel rooms for Sunday 8/29 for one night in Montreal downtown. The 2 star hotels on Priceline's regular site look pretty skanky, but the ones posted here in the hotel list look fine. Looking to stay cheap-under $60 a night for each room if possible.

Suggestions?

Thanks!!!

On Sundays, downtown hotels should have more unsold inventory. However, $60 is just a dash below their minimum. If you try around $65+/-$3 range, you should got rooms, at least I did. Also, you are correct, PL 2* are pretty disgusting, except Quality Inn on Ave Du Parc. The sad part is that you won't know what you get before hand. Good luck.

Is one of the room for you OR are you just helping get the rooms for friends?

I'll re-iterate what bystander said but word it a little differently...

The good news is that you need Sunday nite which is typically the slowest nite of the week in the hotel industry, so you should be able to find some value. The bad news is that $60 isn't much of a budget for a Downtown hotel, and at the 2* level you don't what you'll get... while there may be some 2* properties which suit your needs, there may be others which do not, and with PRICELINE you can't control which type you will get.

I'd see if your friends could go another $20 higher in budget and start at the 3* level. While this still may not end up with a perfect hotel, at least the odds would favor a better experience and a better value for the price paid.

Yeah, I'm in a band. We aren't going to have much time in the city at all so I was hoping for downtown as opposed to airport...

Maybe we could do two rooms as long as they both have double beds at the three star level. I'd appreciate the advice!

All that is guaranteed with PRICELINE is double occupancy, after that it is at the discretion of the hotel. You could receive a room with only one bed and hotel could be unable, or unwilling, to accommodate your request for rooms with two beds. (and there could be an additional charge)

HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy per room, but the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc. Not sure if such a scenario would work for your needs, but searching HOTWIRE for your dates 2rooms/8adults shows a 3* at $99 (not a great value, imo). The amenities (Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business) match previous reports for the Le Nouvel Hotel so that would be my best guess, but these amenities are common for a city so can't be too certain/confident.
