trb Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 I've been bidding for the last couple of days (through the link on your site) in Oahu, North Shore Resort, and not having any luck. We only need one night on October 16th. It looks like others have won Turtle Bay ranging from $168-185. Here's my strategy:I started with Oahu North Shore $160starting adding the "safe zones" one at a time (Diamond Head, Executive Center, Honolulu airport, Waikiki City Central) and going up a few dollars at time. My last bid was for $185, and I'm still not winning.Any suggestions? Do I just need to be patient and try back next week? Or do I need to keep going up?Thanks
AaronJB Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 What would be your desired budget per night? There may also be limited/no PRICELINE inventory for this date.Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.
trb Posted August 24, 2010 Author Report Posted August 24, 2010 Well, I'd like $170, but would still be happy with $185.
thereuare Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 As per the Turtle Bay website they have a 4 nite minimum for this nite, so there is a good chance they are not offering inventory to the opaque suppliers (and an even better chance that if they do offer inventory it's not offered for a one nite stay)If you've bid up to your limit there isn't much else you can do, but based upon the above i'd begin consider alternate plans. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. trb Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 I ended up winning Turtle Bay for one night 10/16/10 for $200. Not as cheap as I hoped, but still much cheaper than going direct! My strategy yesterday was starting at $185 and going up $5 at a time with safe zones. Thanks for your input.
AaronJB Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Congrats on your success. :)Sorry to hear that the result was more expensive than hoped, but still a very nice deal for this date.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay
