coolgc Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 I am trying to book 3 rooms for 9/1 to 9/4 - either a 3* or a 4*. Since we want to stay below $55 (incl parking) with a quick commute to downtown, it seems 3* in Mississauga might be our best option. So far I see $30 to be the cheapest winning bid for a 3* in that area which seems encouraging. First, any ideas of how to get a 4* near $55 price range near Toronto?Second, since our trip is still a week away, would I be better off waiting until last 3 to 4 days to get the best deal or does that not make any difference?Any help on the strategy would be appreciated!Thank you!
thereuare Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 First, any ideas of how to get a 4* near $55 price range near Toronto?Which zone(s) would you be willing to accept?Second, since our trip is still a week away, would I be better off waiting until last 3 to 4 days to get the best deal or does that not make any difference?I wouldn't think you would see any significant rate drops by waiting, but for more info see the related "Bid Early or Cloe to Arrival" link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. coolgc Posted August 24, 2010 Author Report Posted August 24, 2010 Which zone(s) would you be willing to accept? We would prefer to be in the Downtown South or North zones but will be willing to stay in a 4 star in any Toronto zone for around $55. Thanks for the help!
thereuare Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 So that i have the hierarchy correct...First, bid for 4* Downtown North and Downtown South. If (when) that is rejected what is the next step... a 4* hotel in any of the other Toronto zones OR trying for a 3.5* in the previously bid Downtown zones?Let us know the above and we'll get started. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.PS- while rates are not high for these dates, note that a 4* Downtown hotel is going to be very slim chances. If this is what you really want a bid of $75-$85 would have a much higher probability of success if you want to stretch your budget, just don't want you to miss what you really want over $20 or so. coolgc Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 Actually, for our price range, we would like to be in a 4* in any zone rather than being in a 3.5* in downtown since it actually seems to be just the "Delta Chelsea" hotel and we are not excited about it's reviews.Another point is that we are looking for 3 rooms. Does that limit us too? In other words, are hotels reluctant to "release" that many rooms to priceline all at once for a low price? Thanks for the help!to miss what you really want over $20 or so.
coolgc Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 Please advise on a strategy so we can start bidding quickly using the links from this site. Thank you!!
yellowdog Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 coolgcAnother point is that we are looking for 3 rooms. Does that limit us too?How many is in your party? You know that PRICELINE only guarantee a room for two adults, that could mean one bed only/room.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
coolgc Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 We have 2 per room. Also, our next option after this attempt would be to get a 3 star in Mississauga zone for around $40. I have seen the lowest bids to be around 39 for those. Please let me know the strategy for that and our 4 star plan as soon as you can. Thank you!
thereuare Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 At the 4* level you have NINE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown North and Downtown South (assuming both are acceptable)...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $43, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $48, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $51, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $52, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $54, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55Any questions feel free to ask. coolgc Posted August 29, 2010 Author Report Posted August 29, 2010 Thanks for the help. 4 star didn't work out for us. We ended up with a 3 star in Mississauga zone - Delta Meadowvale Resort for $53 per night plus $16 parking. It seems like no one has reported that hotel to this site before. Reviews are mixed. Hopefully it'd be a nice place.
