No luck and the night of my parent's stay was approaching. First offer was $38, rejected but offered free rebid at $49. Rejected free rebid and added Santa Monica (virtual free rebid) at $41, rejected. Added Beverly Hills (another virtual free rebid) at $43, accepted and upgraded to 3* at Radisson LAX. Best price available elsewhere was $99, saved 56%.
