I am going to visit New York city during the labor day and plan to stay in a hotel close to newark airport.

Hotwire gives me the choice of a 3.5 * hotel for $89. I wish it is the Hilton (penn station) so that I can walk to penn station and take the train to NYC.

However, I know there is another 3.5* Hilton (Newark airport) located in this area as well.

Can any one help me to ID whether the $89 one is penn staion Hilton or the Airport Hilton.

It has shuttle, fitness center, pool, restaurant, high speed internet.

Thanks.

Best guess would be Hilton Newark Airport with a resarvation for the Renaissance (I can't get the TA rating to appear).

Please use the site's HOTWIRE link, and let us know how it goes or if you need any additional help with your stay.

Yellowdog.

PS. Please follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing, even if you chose to book direct, cancell your trip, etc.

I will add that although relatively inexpensive, this area is not that great as a 'NYC substitute', imo.

If you're looking towards this area as an alternative to NYC let us know your maximum budget and we'll try to offer some other options.

My maximum budget is $120 per night including tax.

I really do not care much about the **** (but the room shall be nice and clean).

The hotel must have an easy access to the NYC public transportation (subway is my primary choice since I do not have a car.). Located at some decent areas is preferred.

Thanks for your recommendation.

Generally speaking this zone does not... The Hilton Gatewa provides easy access, but anything else will likely take you about 90+ minutes to commute to Manhattan from this area.

Is it possible to up your bidding limit to $110 before taxes and fees OR are you very firm on your maximum bid?

I'm not confident $110 will be enough (if not then $130 is probably closer to the right amount) but it's worth a shot to try for a 4* hotel in Jersey City as there is easy access to Manhattan via PATH train and all the 4* hotels in the area generally get very good reviews. NOTE that this area typically charges for parking, but you can usually get street parking on the weekends and likely don't need to move your car Monday either since it will be the Labor Day Holiday... so depending upon your Tuesday plans will either need move to a meter spot and pay for a few hours or park in a garage for part of the day.

Anyway, this is what i would try...

At the 4* level in Jersey City you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Jersey City...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for quick reply and recommendation.

However, my concern is that I do not have a car there. So will the hotels you recommended still be a good choice for the easy access to public transportation system? (which is my primary concern now.)
