jpgb Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I have tried to bid on Priceline at $70 for a 3.5*-4* hotel from 11/28/10-11/30/10 and this has been rejected. Does anyone have any tips on a suitable bid for this location and time of year? Thanks in advance.
AaronJB Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Rates are on the higher side for these dates. What would be your desired max budget per night for hotel?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jpgb Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 Hi Aaron, thank you for your reply. I guess top price would be $150 per night, although my priority was to get a really good deal. I look forward to your advice! Thanks,
thereuare Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I'm guessing $150 would be about the right number for a 3.5*, if not, just a bit more as HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel (although i'm guessing it may be 3.5* rated via HOTWIRE) for $165/nite.If you want to give it a try, are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Are you also interested in the NMA-River North zone or do you only want to bid the Loop zone?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jpgb Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 Hi, the goal was the least expensive 3.5*, and I am certainly willing to look at the river north zone as well. Thanks in advance.
AaronJB Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I'm not sure what's going on for these dates, but regular rates in the NMA-River North area are really quite high - this is a case where the cheapest 3.5* is likely going to be found in the Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park zone. I'm guessing a 3.5* in the MP-Loop-Grant Park zone is going to take $125-135, although I'd start at $115 and work higher by $5's.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Since the NMA zone is also acceptable, you can use that to increase the number of bids per bidding cycle as follows:At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* Loop...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* NMA...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Loop and NMA...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
